Many celebrities use twitter as a way to connect with fans and a platform for getting active and personal with followers. Chrissy Teigen is a great example of this. She uses Twitter to express her political thoughts and opinions as well as give followers a personal look at her life. She tweets everything herself and always expresses her opinions, she is very real with her followers and takes pride in being that way, she gets emotional and wants to spread her feelings. She does not use it as a way to promote herself and her career. Michelle Obama uses the app to promote not herself, but to support programs and encourage people to do things like vote and eat healthy. She does not generally tweet personally, however. She has someone compose tweets for her, and then generally seem very scripted and unpersonal. She does not use it as a way to promote herself and her career. Ryan Seacrest is another star who uses Twitter mostly to express his thoughts and does not generally promote himself through it. Some celebrities participate in a blend of personal tweets and promotional. Tyra Banks, for example, is very real and talks a lot about her personal life yet she also uses the platform for sponsored ads and photos with companies and promotes her app, "TyTymojis" through tweets and in her bio. Similarly, stars like Jimmy Fallon and John Legend get personal on occasion, but often use it to promote. John Legend, for example tweets concert dates and tour information and Jimmy Fallon uses it to talk about his show and who an what will be featured, though they both seem genuine in their Tweets and seem to be personal. Several other stars like Beyoncé and Rihanna do not tweet often and use it solely as a way to promote their albums, fragrances, tours etc. They are rarely ever personal and the tweets usually seem like they come from publicists. They tend to be fairly quiet on Twitter and do not use it as a way to communicate with fans. It is more common among people who like to connect with their fans to use Twitter often and tweet personally.
