John Mulaney is a stand up comedian and his routine titled "New in Town" is a series of jokes and hot topics that he tells the audience. The purpose of this is to entertain the viewers and tell them stories. The audience are all of the people watching the routine in person and people watching it on Netflix, Hulu, Spotify etc. The specific audience is young adults all the way through elderly people as it is considered adult humor. He uses ethos because the stories that he tells are ones that he has experienced first hand in his life. He also uses pathos as he tells stories that the audience can relate to or stories that have an emotional aspect for him. The mode of this is visual and mostly audio. It is a recording as well as a live show. This could definitely be transformed into a podcast or an audio only form. The jokes can be told through solely audio or John Mulaney could be interviewed or tell his jokes through a podcast. The style of this form allows the audience to see John's facial expressions which adds to the purpose of making the audience laugh. It also allows the audience to experience the emotions with him as he tells his stories. The style is casual and allows viewers to feel that they are listening to a friend talk to them.
